How to Overcome Lack of Consistency

2 min

Introverts have a tendency to struggle with consistency.

When you’re gifted, talented, and possess a powerful brain, you have this feeling that you can start anytime.

Things like waking up early, going to the gym, dieting, meditation, journaling, and staying away from bad habits depend on consistency.

You start, but doing it every day can sometimes feel like a burden.

Especially when you don’t get the expected results, you lose motivation.

Today I want to share with you 3 Practical Tools that can help you build consistency over the long term to achieve your life goals.

Tool #1: Imagination

Action begins in the mind.

Scientists have proven that our subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between what’s real and what’s imagined.

That is why affirmations are so powerful.

Earl Nightingale once said,

“Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality. “

Whatever you want to be consistent at, imagine the end result.

For example, if you want to quit a bad habit, imagine how you’d feel after you’ve stopped doing it for 6 months.

Imagine how different your life would be.

Don’t just tell yourself I want to stop; tell yourself I’ve already stopped.

Get yourself in a mental frame where you’ve already accomplished your goal.

This primes your subconscious to align your thoughts, feelings, and actions with the self-image (end goal) you’ve imagined for yourself.

And once your thoughts, feelings, and actions are in alignment, they’ll be forced to stay consistent with that self-image.

Tool #2: Self-talk

Self-talk builds our perception.

Self-talk is the set of instructions you give your brain about how it should think.

And what you think determines your actions.

It’s our mental dialogue that controls whether we keep doing something or stop doing it.

Imagine that you decide to wake up at 6 a.m.

The alarm rings. The self-talk goes something like, “5 more minutes, or I’ll start tomorrow.”

You hit the snooze and go back to sleep.

But if you change your self-talk to: “Damn! I feel good. Let’s go!”

You’d jump off the bed with the kind of energy and excitement you had when you were a kid.

Self-talk is conscious reprogramming of the mind. I teach this in one of the 5 tools (The Reprogramming Book) in my course, Awakening.

Self-talk writes the narrative of your ideal life.

Tool #3: The Filter

Thoughts create feelings.

Feelings make us take action.

Here’s how it flows:

Thought → Feeling → Action

For example, imagine you’re trying to lose weight.

You’re scrolling through Instagram and see a big delicious burger.

Thought: That looks tasty.

Feeling: Experience of hunger, salivation

Action: You order the burger

But you can stop.

As Victor Frankl said,

“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”

And the way to do it is to imagine a filter of rationality between thoughts and feelings.

Thought → ||| (the filter) → Feeling → Action

This filter stops a needless thought from converting into feelings.

All successful people who are consistent and reach their goals successfully are no different from you.

The only thing is that they have built a sophisticated filter through intelligence and common sense.

They filter out every thought that can distract them from their goal.

Because they understand that once a thought becomes a feeling, it’s hard to stop.

So, the moment a thought pops up in your mind, don’t flow away with it. Pause. Use the filter.

Think before you feel.

And trust me, nothing can stop you from achieving your goals.

Conclusion

Remember that seeds don’t become trees in a day.

It requires consistent care and nourishment.

As an introvert, you have intelligence. You’re smart and have a powerful mind.

You have the power to consciously design the life of your dreams.

All you need is consistency.

Just show up. Everyday.

Whether you feel like it or not.

Don’t let your emotions decide your future.

You will get it.

Stay blessed,

Master
